About Dr. Adrian Cowan

Dr. Adrian M. Cowan is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Managing Member for Analytic Focus, LLC, a national statistics, finance and economics consulting organization. Dr. Cowan has over 20 years of experience in research and design applied to issues in banking.

Dr. Cowan specializes in the study of derivatives and other forms of investment, as well as operations in financial institutions. Dr. Cowan has provided risk management services to banks, mortgage banks, thrifts and credit unions. Dr. Cowan serves as a consulting expert and expert witness in cases involving banking, corporate governance, investment securities, valuation and financial derivatives.

Dr. Cowan is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Quantitative Management at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Cowan teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Financial Institutions, Money and Capital Markets, and Financial Risk Management. Dr. Cowan has authored many articles on credit and interest rate risk, commercial lending, and pricing models.

Prior to establishing Analytic Focus LLC in 2002, Dr. Cowan held a number of positions in Federal Government, Academia and the financial and research industries, including serving as the Senior Financial Economist for the Office of Thrift Supervision in the United States Department of Treasury; Section Chief for Asset Management of the Resolution Trust Corporation; consulting work with the Office of Finance, Federal Home Loan Banks; risk management consultant to WesCorp; technical consultant to PricewaterhouseCoopers; and project manager with Kenneth Leventhal & Co (now part of Ernst and Young).
