Analytic Focus LLC Selected on Two Federal Contracts

Birmingham, AL - Analytic Focus LLC announces being selected for the award of two different Federal Contracts. The first is a five year contract from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to provide analytical services to examine the agency's financial, accounting and fiduciary activities. Each year, Analytic Focus will present an opinion on the degree to which errors have been made in computation of entitlement payments for the 2.4 million retirees and survivors under the different Federal retirement systems, CSRS and FERS. OPM wants to assure Congress and retirees that the long term liability for future retiree and beneficiary payments is fairly stated and that the Trust Fund liability is not understated. This will enable OPM to continue uninterrupted payments into the future. The agency must report annually to Congress an estimate of overpayments, underpayments and total improper payments in OPM's Performance and Accountability Report.

The second contract is an ongoing award with the U.S. Department of Education (DoEd) in support of work being done to manage the No Child Left Behind Program. DoEd conducts an annual assessment of the progress of students in grades 4, 8, and 12 in reading, mathematics, and science. Analytic Focus has been selected to develop procedures to help the Department of Education correct disparities in reporting in the assessments on a state by state basis. The goal is to ensure fair and balanced reporting for states and to guarantee the reliability of annual national estimates of educational progress.

This makes four contracts awarded by the Federal government in the last six months to Analytic Focus. There are two other significant contracts awarded at the end of 2004. One is a five year contract with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to develop procedures for the FDIC to use in the event of the failure of a very large bank. The FDIC insures deposits up to $100,000 within a bank for a single depositor. For very large banks, a failure would require determining insurance coverage for hundreds of thousands of depositors who may hold multiple accounts and have joint accounts with other depositors. The goal of the contract is to develop ways to rapidly determine the holdings of each individual depositor across all accounts, branches, and subsidiaries in a rapid and reliable way that allows the FDIC to pay depositors while preserving the value of the bank. The other contact is a six year contract where Analytic Focus is a subcontractor on a study for the U.S. Department of Labor. This study examines the administration of unemployment insurance in all of the states benefits to recipients. The Department of Labor will use the results of this study to better allocate resources to the states to support parts of the unemployment insurance program.
